Canada-Ukraine Partnership Project for Regional Governance and Development
is seeking a
Ukrainian Project Manager
The Regional Governance and Development (RGD) Project is a five-year (2005-2010) cooperation project of the Canadian Urban Institute, supported by funding from Canadian International Development Agency, and implemented in Ukraine in association with EuroRegio Ukraine. The project is designed to promote civic engagement in regional governance, providing opportunities for citizens and communities to shape their common future and to put their region on the path towards sustainable development. The project will help strengthen Ukrainian regional development and governance by providing advice to the Ministry of Economy, by sharing know-how from other jurisdictions in Europe and North America, and by supporting two pilot oblasts Zaporizhzhia and Zakarpattya - to launch participatory planning and decision-making processes.
The RGD’s Kyiv-based, Ukrainian Project Manager (UPM) will serve a dual role in the project. Working under the direction of the Canadian management group and overseeing the work of the project staff team in Ukraine, s/he will provide overall management of the project in Ukraine on a day-to-day basis, implementing activities, ensuring the achievement of planned results, and providing sound administration of project finances. The UPM will also act as an expert in regional governance, development, and participatory planning, providing technical assistance to project partners/participants.
Candidates shall have: 1) experience in the leadership and management of multi-faceted technical cooperation projects, 2) a demonstrated ability to convene participatory governance processes, 3) strong understanding of and skills in partnership-building, and 4) advanced education related to one or more of the substantive areas of the project.
